Every ancient tradition, in every part of the world, has arrived at the same instinct: that a small object can be prepared to carry something larger than itself. A stone set beside a fire absorbs the warmth of the fire. A small mirror left facing the moon carries a trace of moonlight into a woman's bedroom. A wooden bead soaked in a holy river holds the river against her wrist for the rest of her life. The object becomes what it has been placed near. The material remembers.

This is the entire premise of our SUNSHINE Collection. Before any SUNSHINE piece leaves our Bali atelier, she is placed, quietly and deliberately, under the equatorial Bali Sun ~ the same sun that has been rising over the temples and rice terraces of this island for a thousand years. She is not decorated. She is not blessed with words. She is simply set out, on a warm stone or a linen cloth, in the small daily open-air ritual of our atelier, and the sun does what she does. She warms the metal. She saturates the stone. She leaves her small trace inside the material. Then the piece is packed carefully and sent to her wearer.

The SUNSHINE is a family of four: the SUNSHINE Ring (wide hammered band with a small rectangular ametrine at the shoulder), the SUNSHINE Earrings (small hoop with a round hammered sun-ray medallion holding an ametrine baguette at the center), the SUNSHINE Necklace (paperclip chain with a hammered sun-ray medallion pendant and a matching ametrine stone), and the SUNSHINE Bracelet (paperclip chain at the wrist with the same hammered sun-ray medallion and central ametrine). SANDRINE'S OWN WORDS

Sandrine is naming a specific practice, and it is worth understanding on its own terms. She is not writing a marketing line. She is describing what actually happens in our atelier, and the language she uses is precise.

She names the sun as enchanting ~ the word comes from the Latin incantare, to sing into. To enchant something is not, in the older sense, to trick it. It is to sing into it. Sandrine is telling us that the Bali Sun sings into each SUNSHINE piece ~ that a low continuous solar song passes into the metal and the stone during the hours it is left in her light. The song does not vanish when the piece is packed. It travels with her. It travels to the wearer.

She names the sun's gift as natural energy and vibrant pulsations. This is not vague. The sun radiates at specific measurable frequencies ~ visible light, infrared warmth, ultraviolet, and a spectrum of lower vibrations that biologists have documented but not yet fully understood. Every living thing on earth has evolved inside these pulsations. Sandrine is naming the fact that a small object left in solar exposure carries a trace of these frequencies with it. Modern gemology confirms that certain stones (Ametrine particularly) do hold and slowly re-release solar energy. This is not superstition. This is material science, gently named in Sandrine's own gentle vocabulary.

Then Sandrine closes with a small instruction: vibrate higher and feel the connection with the powerful rhythms of nature. This is what the wearer is invited to do. Not to work hard. Not to earn anything. Only to receive ~ to let the small talisman she is now wearing quietly re-tune her, day by day, back into the low continuous rhythm of the natural world she has always belonged to. This is the entire practice.

EMILY DICKINSON  ~  BRING ME THE SUNSET IN A CUP

There is a poet who understood the exact impulse behind the SUNSHINE Collection long before the collection existed. Her name was Emily Dickinson, and she wrote most of her poems between 1858 and 1866 in a small upstairs bedroom in Amherst, Massachusetts. She almost never left the house. She watched the sun cross her window every day for thirty years. And she asked, in one of the small poems she wrote and folded into a paper envelope and left in her drawer, this small impossible question:

Bring me the sunset in a cup. Six small words, and inside them the whole longing of the SUNSHINE Collection. Can the sun be captured? Can she be held in a small vessel? Can she be measured, poured, drunk? Dickinson knew the honest answer was not quite ~ but she also knew that a person who lives with the wish to bring the sunset in a cup lives differently from a person who does not. The wish is the practice. The wish is the door.

The SUNSHINE Collection is a small worn answer to Dickinson's question. She is a small cup. She has been set out to catch the sunset, or at least to catch as much of the sunset as a piece of gold vermeil and a small Ametrine stone can hold. The cup does not contain the whole sun. But it contains some. And the some is what the wearer takes with her, into the office, into the rainy afternoon, into the difficult evening. A small carried trace of the day's original brightness.

Dickinson wrote another line that the SUNSHINE wearer is worth carrying too. She wrote:

Dickinson is naming that light is not only decorative. Light has weight ~ she calls it heft. A slant of afternoon sun can press on the mood the way a hymn can press on the ribcage. Light shapes the interior life. Which is why the SUNSHINE Collection matters ~ she is a small worn light that shapes the wearer's inner weather from inside, softly and daily, no matter what the sky above her happens to be doing that morning.

PASUPATI  ~  THE BALINESE CHARGING RITUAL

What Sandrine is doing when she places each SUNSHINE piece under the Bali Sun has a specific name in Balinese Hindu practice. It is called pasupati, and it is one of the oldest continuous rituals in the tradition. To pasupati an object is to prepare it as a vessel of the sacred ~ to charge it, deliberately, with divine energy so that it becomes more than the material it is made of.

In Balinese temples, pasupati is performed by a Brahmin priest on new sacred objects ~ a new statue of a deity, a new keris blade, a new mask for temple dance, a new small stone shrine that is about to be installed at a household compound. The priest chants mantras, sprinkles holy water, presents offerings, and holds the object in contact with divine presence until it receives ~ until, in the Balinese understanding, the invisible sacred has taken residence inside the visible thing. From that moment on, the object is no longer only material. She has taksu ~ Balinese for the spiritual charge that radiates through a person, an object, or a performance.

A dancer with taksu holds the room without effort. A mask with taksu is treated with reverence because it has stopped being only carved wood. An object with taksu carries her charge with her wherever she goes, and everyone who comes near her feels it, quietly, without needing to name what they are feeling.

This is what Sandrine draws on when she places each SUNSHINE piece under the Bali Sun. She is not performing a full Brahmin ceremony ~ she is not a priest and she does not claim to be. But she is drawing, respectfully and knowingly, on the same underlying insight the tradition holds: that objects receive, and that a piece deliberately prepared under sacred exposure carries a trace of that exposure into her future life. The Bali Sun that has warmed the SUNSHINE piece is, in the older Balinese reading, the same Sang Hyang Surya (the Divine Radiant One) who receives daily offerings at every temple on the island. When his warmth passes into the metal and the stone, taksu passes with it.

The Balinese word for a precious stone worn as a small carrier of sacred charge is batu mulia ~ a noble stone. The Ametrine at the center of each SUNSHINE piece is, in the Balinese reading, batu mulia by the time she reaches the wearer's hand. Not because of an official ceremony. Because of the days she has spent in the low quiet exposure to the equatorial sun before she was packed. She has received. She carries. She will radiate.

AMETRINE  ~  TWO COLORS, ONE STONE

At the center of every SUNSHINE piece sits a small rectangular baguette of Ametrine, and she is not an ordinary stone. Ametrine is a rare natural fusion of amethyst (deep purple) and citrine (warm yellow), occurring together inside the same crystal. Under the microscope, you can see the color line where the two zones meet. The stone is doing something no ordinary quartz does. She holds two energies inside one small vessel.

Ametrine is mined almost exclusively at the Anahí Mine in eastern Bolivia, on the border with Brazil, deep in the Amazon rainforest. The mine has been producing gem-quality Ametrine since the seventeenth century, though the stone was known to indigenous peoples for centuries earlier and reached European courts through Spanish colonial trade routes. The name Ametrine is a small compound: ame- (from amethyst) + -trine (from citrine). One stone. Two names. Held together.

In the older traditions of stone reading, amethyst is the stone of wisdom, clarity, and the quiet upper mind. Citrine is the stone of vitality, warmth, and the working belly of daily life. Where the two occur together, as they do in Ametrine, the stone is understood to hold the higher mind and the working body in the same small window. Wisdom and action. Contemplation and doing. The woman who does not have to choose between her inner life and her active life ~ she is allowed both, held in one small stone.

This is why Sandrine chose Ametrine for the SUNSHINE Collection. The sun-charging ritual would work in any warm stone. Each piece in the SUNSHINE Collection carries the hammered gold sun-ray design and a small Ametrine stone at her center. But the position on the body changes how the small talisman does her work.

SUNSHINE Ring ~ The SUNSHINE Ring is a wide hammered band with a small rectangular Ametrine baguette set at the shoulder of the band. Available in 22k gold vermeil and in full recycled sterling silver 925. Sizes 6-9. Rp 2,950,000. The band is comfortably wide (a considered daily piece, not a slim minimal ring), hammered by hand so that no two pieces catch the light in exactly the same way. The Ametrine sits at the side rather than at the center of the top ~ a small quiet asymmetry that means the wearer will glimpse the stone every time she reaches for her cup, her phone, her partner's hand. SUNSHINE Earrings ~ The SUNSHINE Earrings are the most versatile piece in the collection. A small hammered gold vermeil hoop at the ear holds a round hammered sun-ray medallion pendant ~ the medallion is engraved with the etched radiating rays of a stylised sun, with a small rectangular Ametrine baguette set at the center of each. Dimension: 4 cm. Rp 2,950,000. She is designed as a two-part piece: the medallion can be detached and the wearer can wear the hoop alone on days she wants a simpler ear. The hoop plus the sun-ray medallion together read as a small daily sacred coin. Both together, or the hoop alone. All are correct.

SUNSHINE Necklace ~ The SUNSHINE Necklace is the hero of the collection ~ a substantial 22k gold vermeil paperclip-style chain of 39 cm (with 8 cm of adjustable extension, extending to 47 cm) holding a round hammered sun-ray medallion pendant with a small central Ametrine baguette. Rp 4,650,000. She sits at the sternum at the shortest length and drops slightly lower on the fullest extension ~ meaning the same necklace can be worn tucked into a linen shirt as a private daily talisman, or worn on top of a slim knit as a considered statement piece. The paperclip chain adds a small industrial architecture to the softer round medallion below, giving the whole piece a gentle tension between clean and warm.

SUNSHINE Bracelet ~ The SUNSHINE Bracelet carries the same design language to the wrist. CARE  ~  KEEPING THE SUNSHINE AT HER BEST

The SUNSHINE Collection is designed for real daily wear. The 22k gold vermeil is a serious professional 3-micron plating over solid recycled sterling silver 925, protected with a nano coating that holds the finish through years of use. The hammered surface has a slight organic texture that hides small daily wear beautifully ~ small scratches from real life become part of the piece's story rather than damage.

A few small notes to keep the Ametrine and the vermeil at their best. Remove pieces before showering, before swimming, and before applying perfumes or heavy body oils ~ the chemistry of chlorine, salt water, and concentrated fragrance is not friendly to any vermeil piece or bezel-set stone over time. Ametrine is durable (7 on the Mohs scale) but does not enjoy sharp knocks against harder surfaces ~ store the pieces in soft pouches, ideally lying flat, so the small stone edges are protected.

If the Ametrine ever appears to have gone quiet ~ some wearers report this after a difficult season, though we make no formal claim ~ the traditional recharging practice is simply to place the piece in a window with direct morning sunlight for two or three hours.
