SUNNY Collection
The LeeLoobird SUNNY Collection is a small family of three pieces ~ earrings, ring, and necklace ~ each carrying at its center a small tight coil of 22k gold vermeil wrapped around a fine sterling silver 925 base. The coil is designed to symbolise the warming rays of the sun ~ a small worn radiance, held quietly against the skin. Each piece is hand-made and blessed in our Bali atelier. A wearable small light, for the woman remembering how to shine.
A woman does not need a large sun. She has been offered one every morning of her life. What she sometimes needs, in the middle of a long grey Tuesday, is a small one. A small worn reminder that the warmth is still available to her. That her own light is not something she has to earn. That she is allowed, this afternoon, to shine.
This is the entire premise of our SUNNY Collection. A small family of three pieces ~ earrings, ring, and necklace ~ each carrying at its center a small coiled sun. The sun is not a stone. She is not a stamped disc. She is a small tight spiral of 22k gold vermeil, hand-wrapped around a fine sterling silver 925 wire, designed to catch light the way a real sun's rays do ~ from many small angles at once, in small unpredictable moments across the day.
Sandrine, our founder, chose the design intentionally. The coil is not decorative geometry. She is a visual translation of solar radiance ~ the way the sun's warmth wraps around the earth in continuous unbroken spirals, holding everything alive without asking to be thanked. The gold at the center of each SUNNY piece is a wearable small version of the same principle. Warmth, given without a bill. Radiance, worn quietly. A small sun on the body of the wearer, doing what the real sun does.
The SUNNY Collection is worked in two metals ~ 22k gold vermeil (3 microns of gold plated over solid recycled sterling silver 925, with a protective nano coating) for the sun element, and recycled sterling silver 925 for the surrounding structure. The two metals together are not accidental. They are the visual grammar of the collection ~ warm gold at the center, cool silver around it. The sun and the daily life it radiates through. Held together. Worn together.
She is not a piece for the day the woman feels bright already. She is a piece for the day she does not. She is worn as a small permission to remember. The sun does not stop shining because it is grey outside. The wearer does not stop being warm because she has forgotten. The SUNNY Collection is the small daily reminder.
SANDRINE'S OWN WORDS
☆ THE SPARK WITHIN ☆ The gold elements at the center of our SUNNY creations are designed to evoke the radiant and life-giving rays of the sun, a symbol of warmth, vitality, and endless energy. Let these pieces inspire you to shine brightly and share your light with the world. Shine with our SUNNY creations!
— Sandrine, LeeLoobird
Sandrine is naming three qualities of the sun that the collection is designed to hold, and each of them is worth understanding separately.
The first is warmth. Not heat. Warmth is different. Heat is aggressive; warmth is receiving. A woman with warmth is a woman other people move toward without being asked. She does not announce her warmth ~ she simply carries it, and the room around her adjusts. The SUNNY Collection is designed to remind the wearer that this quality is hers already, whether or not she remembers it on any given morning.
The second is vitality. Not manic energy. Not performance. The old Latin word vita means life itself ~ the underlying force that keeps a plant reaching for the window, that keeps a river moving downhill, that keeps a woman rising in the morning even on the mornings she does not particularly want to. The SUNNY pieces carry a small worn reminder of this quiet under-current. She has vitality because she is alive. Nothing else needs to be added.
The third is endless energy. Sandrine chose the word endless carefully. The sun has been burning for 4.6 billion years. She will keep burning, in current physical estimates, for another 5 billion. That is the deeper reassurance the SUNNY Collection carries. The wearer's own inner light is not a resource that will run out because she gives it away today. Warmth given generously is not depleted. It is only, in the giving, more warm.
And then Sandrine closes with the small direct sentence that names the whole collection: Shine with our SUNNY creations. This is not a decorative phrase. It is an instruction. Shine. Not for anyone else. For the sake of shining. That is the whole of the practice the SUNNY pieces are designed to hold.
HAFIZ ~ THE SUN THAT DOES NOT KEEP AN ACCOUNT
The most beloved poet in the Persian tradition is a fourteenth-century Sufi mystic named Hafiz, who lived and wrote in the city of Shiraz between 1315 and 1390. His full name was Khwaja Shams-ud-Din Muhammad Hafiz-e Shirazi, and his small book of poems, the Divan-e Hafiz, is one of the most-read books in Persian history. Even today, in Iranian homes, a family will keep a copy of Hafiz on the shelf and open it at random when they need guidance ~ the practice is called fal-e Hafiz, the reading of Hafiz for wisdom. The custom has been in place for six centuries.
Hafiz wrote about many things, but he wrote most beautifully about the sun. His most-quoted small poem on the subject, translated many times but always most warmly by the contemporary Sufi translator Daniel Ladinsky, reads:
Even after all this time / the sun never says to the earth, / 'You owe me.' / Look what happens with a love like that. / It lights the whole sky.
— Hafiz (c. 1320 – 1389), Persian Sufi poet, translated by Daniel Ladinsky
Five small lines, and in them the entire theology of the sun. Even after all this time ~ four and a half billion years of continuous giving. The sun never says to the earth, 'You owe me' ~ the giving is not transactional. The sun does not track the earth's gratitude, does not measure whether her warmth has been appreciated, does not withhold her light when she is taken for granted. She simply keeps radiating. Look what happens with a love like that ~ Hafiz is not describing a rare miracle. He is describing what is always available, what is happening at this exact moment above the reader's head. It lights the whole sky. The whole sky. Not part of it. All of it.
This is the specific spiritual teaching the SUNNY Collection is designed to carry against the wearer's skin. The instruction is small: give warmth without keeping the account. Do not track. Do not withhold. Do not measure whether the giving has been earned. Simply keep radiating. Look what happens with a love like that.
There is a second small line by Hafiz that is worth carrying alongside the first. He wrote:
I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.
— Hafiz
This is what the SUNNY pieces are quietly whispering at the wearer's ears, hand, and throat. The astonishing light is already in her being. She is not being asked to acquire it or become it. She is being asked, only, to remember it. The small coiled sun on the piece is not the light itself. She is the small door back to the wearer's own.

SURYA SEWANA ~ THE BALINESE GREETING OF THE SUN
Six hundred years after Hafiz, and half a world away, on the small island where our atelier is, an ancient Hindu practice quietly continues every morning at sunrise. It is called surya sewana ~ the service of the sun ~ and it is performed by the Brahmin priests of Bali as one of the oldest continuous daily rituals in the Hindu world. The priest rises before dawn, purifies himself with water, sits facing east, and greets the first light of the day with a series of mantras, hand seals (mudra), and small offerings. He is not asking the sun for anything. He is offering the sun his gratitude ~ acknowledging that another day has arrived, that the warmth has returned, that the wheel of things has turned once more in favour of the living.
The Balinese name for the sun in these rituals is Sang Hyang Surya ~ the Divine Radiant One ~ the manifestation of the sacred as light-giving warmth. Every temple in Bali is oriented so that the shrine of Sang Hyang Surya faces the rising sun. Every ceremony begins with a small acknowledgement of him. The sun in Bali is not simply the weather. He is a deity in continuous conversation with the island, and the island in continuous conversation with him.
There is a second Balinese and Indonesian word for the sun that is worth carrying alongside. In Bahasa Indonesia, the sun is called matahari, which is a beautiful compound: mata (eye) and hari (day). The sun is the eye of the day. The one bright watcher, looking down through the sky, holding the whole of the visible world in view. The Indonesian language, on its most ordinary level, has already named the sun as a witness. Not an inanimate object. A gaze that has been watching.
The SUNNY Collection is designed inside this cultural understanding. Every piece is finished in an atelier where the sun is greeted, thanked, and honoured every morning ~ where the sunrise is not a natural phenomenon to be photographed but a sacred visitor to be received. When a SUNNY ring or necklace or pair of earrings is placed in the wearer's hand, she is receiving not only the small object but a small trace of the whole daily conversation between the island and Sang Hyang Surya. She is receiving, in her own way, a small worn matahari. A small eye of the day.

THE THREE PIECES ~ EARRINGS, RING, NECKLACE
Each piece in the SUNNY Collection carries the small coiled sun at its center, but the position on the body changes what the sun does. Worn at the ears, at the hand, at the throat, the small sun becomes a different small daily reminder depending on where the wearer catches sight of her own.
SUNNY Earrings ~ The SUNNY Earrings are long drop earrings, 12 centimetres in total length, composed of a fine sterling silver 925 chain descending from the earlobe to a hand-wrapped coil of 22k gold vermeil at the mid-drop, then continuing in a soft cascade of sterling silver chain fringe to the bottom. Rp 2,550,000. She is designed to move ~ the fringe catches the wearer's own movement as she walks, gestures, turns her head. The small sun at the center swings gently and catches light. Worn at the ears, the SUNNY is the sun in conversation ~ the reminder that speaks softly at the wearer's cheek all day.
SUNNY Ring ~ The SUNNY Ring is the smallest and most daily of the three ~ a fine sterling silver 925 band with the hand-wrapped 22k gold vermeil coil sitting at the top of the finger, catching morning light every time the wearer looks at her own hand. Sizes 6-8. Rp 1,650,000. This is the piece the wearer will see most often, because the finger is the most-glanced-at surface of the body. The ring becomes the sun in the hand ~ the small immediate reminder throughout the day. Layers gracefully with our other slim rings and with the wearer's existing collection.
SUNNY Necklace ~ The SUNNY Necklace is the hero of the collection ~ a fine sterling silver 925 chain of 41.5 centimetres (with 5 centimetres of adjustable extension), holding at its center a substantial coiled gold vermeil pendant with a soft cascade of silver chain fringe below. Rp 2,990,000. She sits between the throat and the sternum, moving with the wearer's breath, the small sun rising and falling gently at the center of her chest. This is the sun at the heart ~ the piece designed to be felt as well as seen. Worn beneath a linen shirt, the small heavy pendant reminds the wearer, all day, of her own small warmth.
HOW THE COLLECTION IS WORN
The SUNNY Collection is designed to be layered, and there is no wrong combination. Below are a few small suggestions from our atelier for the woman building her own daily small-sun grammar.
The small daily kit. The SUNNY Ring alone is enough. Worn every day, on the index finger or the middle, she becomes the smallest possible daily reminder ~ the small coil of gold seen a hundred times a day, without any of the layering complications of a full set. Many of our SUNNY wearers begin here.
The vertical layering. The SUNNY Necklace worn with the SUNNY Earrings forms a small vertical line of gold-and-silver light down the front of the wearer's body ~ small suns at the ears, small sun at the throat. In a soft cream or linen top with a low neckline, this pairing reads as considered luxury without ever announcing itself. It is our most-recommended morning combination for a woman who wants to feel her light without stating it.
The full three-piece. All three pieces worn together give the wearer small suns at each of the three most-glanced-at positions of her own body ~ ears, throat, hand. This is the closest thing the SUNNY Collection has to a full worn daily practice. It reads as gently celebratory, and is often chosen for birthdays, small anniversaries, or the mornings a woman wants to remember to celebrate herself for no particular reason.
The SUNNY layers beautifully with our Energy Necklace ~ the crescent moon of the Energy pairs with the small coiled sun of the SUNNY to form a small worn sun-and-moon architecture at the throat. Both bright warmths, both cool coolings, held together in one look. For wearers who want the full solar-lunar practice, we recommend the SUNNY Necklace layered above and the Energy Necklace layered below.
The SUNNY also layers beautifully with our MERCI Collection ~ the small sun and the small thank-you worn together carry a small daily double-note: I am warm. I am grateful. Sold separately, worn together.
GOLD AND SILVER ~ TWO METALS, ONE PIECE
A note on the design language. Every piece in the SUNNY Collection combines two metals ~ 22k gold vermeil at the center for the sun element, and recycled sterling silver 925 for the surrounding architecture. This is unusual in high-quality jewelry design, because most pieces choose a single metal to keep the visual grammar clean. The SUNNY Collection intentionally does not.
The choice is philosophical. The sun is not the whole of the day. The sun rises inside a sky, moves across it, is held by the cool weather around her, and eventually sets. The gold at the center of each SUNNY piece is the sun. The silver around her is the sky ~ the daily weather, the cool light of a Balinese morning, the pearled tone of a rainy Tuesday, the ordinary everything in which the warmth is happening. Both are true. Both are needed. The design carries both, in the same small piece, at the same time.
A small practical benefit follows from this. Because each SUNNY piece already carries both metals, she layers correctly with anything the wearer already owns. Silver bracelets, gold rings, mixed-metal necklaces ~ they all find their place with SUNNY. She is designed to be the piece the woman does not have to think about matching. She matches everything, because she already contains everything.
CARE ~ KEEPING THE SUNNY AT HER BEST
The SUNNY Collection is designed for real daily wear. The 22k gold vermeil coil at the center is protected with a nano coating (a serious professional finish) that helps hold the warm gold tone through years of use. The sterling silver 925 chain and structure develops a natural patina over time that many wearers actually come to prefer; if the patina ever wants to be lifted, a soft polishing cloth returns the surface to brightness.
A few small notes to keep the collection at her best. Remove pieces before showering, before entering the sea, and before applying perfumes or heavy body oils ~ the chemistry of chlorine, salt water, and concentrated fragrance is not friendly to vermeil over time. The tightly wrapped gold coil is the most delicate structural element of the collection ~ do not pull on it or squeeze it, and store each piece flat or hanging (never crumpled in a shared drawer where the coil could be compressed). A soft pouch is best.
Each SUNNY piece arrives in our small LeeLoobird pouch, ready to be worn or ready to be given. If the collection is a gift, a small handwritten note tucked inside the pouch is always the right addition. The wearer will not need the SUNNY explained. She will already know.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the SUNNY Collection?
The SUNNY Collection is a family of three pieces ~ SUNNY Earrings, SUNNY Ring, and SUNNY Necklace ~ each carrying at its center a small hand-wrapped coil of 22k gold vermeil, designed to symbolise the warming rays of the sun. The surrounding structure is worked in recycled sterling silver 925, with a fine 22k gold vermeil (3 microns) plating at the center element, protected with a nano coating. Made and blessed in our Bali atelier.
What does the small gold coil symbolize?
The tightly wrapped gold coil is a visual translation of the sun's radiance ~ the way solar warmth wraps around the earth in continuous unbroken spirals, holding everything alive without asking to be thanked. Sandrine designed the element to evoke warmth, vitality, and endless energy. Worn on the body, the small coiled sun becomes a daily reminder that the wearer's own light is already available to her, whether or not she remembers it on any given morning.
What is the meaning of SUNNY?
The name is simple and direct. SUNNY is the collection about the sun ~ about warmth given freely, without an account being kept, about vitality that is already in the wearer's being, and about the small daily practice of allowing herself to shine. The 14th-century Persian poet Hafiz captures it perfectly: 'Even after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, You owe me. Look what happens with a love like that.' The SUNNY Collection carries that same instruction at the wearer's skin.
Can I mix and match pieces from the collection?
Yes ~ the collection is designed to layer. Some of our wearers own only the SUNNY Ring for the smallest daily reminder. Some pair the SUNNY Necklace with the SUNNY Earrings for a vertical line of light down the front of the body. Some own the full three-piece set for the mornings they want to shine intentionally. All are correct. Each piece works alone and each piece works together.
Will the gold vermeil last?
Yes. Our 22k gold vermeil is 3 microns thick and protected with a nano coating ~ significantly more durable than standard fashion jewelry plating. She is designed to hold her warmth through years of daily wear. If the vermeil ever needs reviving after long use, our atelier can restore the plating. She is meant to be worn, not preserved.
Is the SUNNY a good gift?
Yes ~ it is one of our most-given collections, particularly for birthdays, promotions, retirements, or as a small gesture toward a woman who has been going through a difficult season and needs a small worn reminder that her own warmth is still available to her. The SUNNY Ring on its own is a beautifully-scaled small gift. The full three-piece set is a substantial celebratory gift. All arrive in our LeeLoobird pouch, ready to be given with a small handwritten note.
How do I care for the small coiled gold element?
The tight coil at the center is the most delicate structural feature of the collection. Do not pull on it, squeeze it, or compress it. Store each piece flat or hanging in a soft pouch. Remove pieces before showering, before swimming, and before applying perfumes or heavy body oils. Water and chemistry are not friendly to any fine vermeil piece over time. Occasional gentle cleaning with a soft brush and warm water is enough.
Is the SUNNY Collection sold out?
Some SUNNY pieces occasionally sell out (particularly the SUNNY Necklace, our hero piece), because each is hand-wrapped by a single artisan in our Bali atelier and production is intentionally small. If a piece you love is out of stock, please contact us at hello@leeloobird.com ~ we can add you to the small waitlist for the next production run, or suggest a similar piece currently available.
Where can I see the full collection?
You can view the SUNNY Collection and our related sun-and-light pieces across our full collections at leeloobird.com/collections/necklaces, /rings, and /earrings. Each piece is designed, hand-made, and blessed in our Bali atelier.
The SUNNY is not a piece for a woman who wants to announce her brightness. She is a piece for a woman who wants to remember it. She wears the small coiled sun at her ears, or her hand, or her throat, and the sun does the small daily work of returning her to herself. The instruction is small. Shine. Not for anyone else. For the sake of shining. The way the real sun does, above the wearer's head, every single morning, without keeping any account at all.
