Sublime Dry Oil

Our Sublime Dry Oil is a 100% natural multi-purpose botanical blend ~ sesame, almond, and essential oils of sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli and nutmeg, finished with vitamin E. For face, body, hair, and beard. Uniquely infused with the power of words. Blessed in our Bali atelier.

Most skincare insists on the single use. One product for the face, another for the body, another for the hair, another for the beard if there is one. The shelves grow longer. The morning grows more complicated. And somewhere along the way, the ritual that was supposed to be a moment of care turns into a procession of bottles.

The Sublime Dry Oil was made for a different way. One bottle. Many practices. The same blend that softens the face in the morning is what tames the frizz at the ends of the hair, and what finishes the body after a bath, and ~ for those who keep one ~ what conditions the beard. The brand's product page calls it a multi-purpose ritual. The phrase is exact. One ritual, made of many.

And there is something else. Every bottle of the Sublime Dry Oil is uniquely infused with the power of words. The label, the packaging, the small touch of intention ~ each one carries an inspirational message that the wearer discovers upon opening. This is not decoration. This is the brand quietly insisting that what touches the skin and what enters the mind are not separate practices. The oil works on the body. The words work on the woman.

In the Hindu tradition that shapes much of Balinese spiritual practice, a mantra is more than a phrase. The Sanskrit roots of the word ~ manas (mind) and tra (instrument) ~ name it as the instrument of the mind. A mantra is a sound or word repeated with intention, understood to carry transformative power. In Balinese Hindu temples, priests chant Sanskrit sloka each morning, the same syllables that have been spoken across the island for centuries. The Balinese understanding is simple: the word is a thing that does work.

The small inspirational message inside each Sublime Dry Oil bottle is the brand's quiet inheritance from this tradition. Not a sacred chant. Not a religious claim. Just the older recognition that the word, spoken or read with attention, changes something in the body that receives it. The oil softens the skin. The word softens the woman.

The scent profile of the oil carries the same depth. Sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli, nutmeg. These are not the bright florals of typical skincare. They are the older woods, the deeper barks, the grounding aromas that have been burned in temples and rubbed into bodies across centuries of human ceremony. The sandalwood alone has been used in Hindu and Balinese ritual for as long as either tradition has existed ~ pressed into tilaka markings on the forehead, burned as incense, mixed into ceremonial oils. To wear it on the skin is to enter the same continuity.

Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.

— Rumi

Rumi, the Persian poet who lived in the thirteenth century, understood what the brand is naming when it talks about the power of words. The thunder is the loud, performed version. The rain is the small steady one ~ the kind that actually grows the flower. The Sublime Dry Oil is named for this quieter approach. The oil is not dramatic. The word it carries is not shouted. Both work on the body in the slow rain way ~ unannounced, persistent, true.

We blend the Sublime Dry Oil with seven plant ingredients and a small finishing touch of vitamin E. Sesame oil is the base ~ deeply nourishing, rich in antioxidants, used for skin care across South and Southeast Asia for centuries. Almond oil softens, soothes, and improves texture. The essential oils of nutmeg stimulate circulation and bring a warm, awakening note to the aroma.

And then the grounding layer. Sandalwood essential oil calms the skin and the senses, with the soft woody scent that has anchored ceremonies for thousands of years. Cedarwood purifies and grounds, supporting both the skin barrier and the nervous system. Patchouli regenerates the skin and brings a deep, earthy fragrance the wearer keeps discovering through the day. Vitamin E closes with antioxidant protection. 100% natural. No fillers, no synthetic fragrances, no parabens.

The texture is what makes the oil dry. A dry oil is a botanical blend formulated to absorb quickly without leaving a greasy film. The hand passes over the skin and the oil sinks in. No need to wait. No need to dab. The skin holds the oil where it is needed and lets the rest disappear into itself.

Each bottle is blended in our atelier and blessed before it leaves Bali. To empower. To soothe. To manifest. ✦

A hand-soul creation. An intimate connection to your highest state of being.

For the face, for the body, for the hair, for the beard. For all skin and hair types. For dry, sensitive, dull skin and hair. For the woman who wants one ritual instead of many ~ and for the partner she sometimes hands the bottle to. The oil does not discriminate by gender. The skin is the skin. The hair is the hair. The body that wears it is the one being cared for. 🤍

Glow. Hydration. Nourishment. Three small gifts in one bottle.

THE MANY RITUALS

On the face: one or two drops in the palms, warmed for a moment, pressed gently into clean skin. Morning or evening. As a stand-alone moisturiser, or layered over your usual serum.

On the body: three to four pumps after a bath or shower, while the skin is still slightly damp. The oil sinks in faster on humid skin. Particularly good on knees, elbows, the dry parts of the shoulders.

On the hair: a small amount through the ends after drying, for shine and to tame frizz. A more generous amount as an overnight treatment for very dry or chemically treated hair ~ apply, plait or wrap, rinse in the morning.

On the beard: one or two drops worked through after washing. Softens the hair, conditions the skin underneath, calms the small irritations that beards collect. The woody scent profile is, by accident or by design, exactly what most men reach for in a beard oil.

Many keep one bottle on the bathroom shelf for the entire household. It is, often, the most-used product on the shelf.

A FEW NOTES ON THE BLEND

A dry oil is not a different chemistry from a regular oil. It is a different formulation. Dry oils are blends of lighter, faster-absorbing oils ~ oils with a higher proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids, smaller molecular size, and a thinner viscosity than the heavy butters and waxes used in moisturising creams. The result is an oil that the skin can drink in within minutes, leaving softness without slick. This is why the same oil that works on the face also works on the hair: hair shafts and skin surfaces both absorb light oils gladly, and both reject heavy ones.

The sesame oil base is one of the oldest skincare ingredients in continuous use. Ayurvedic medicine, which has been practiced across South Asia for at least three thousand years, considers sesame oil the king of oils ~ abhyanga, the traditional Ayurvedic self-massage, is most often performed with warm sesame oil because of its capacity to penetrate deeply and protect the skin barrier. The Balinese have their own related tradition, lulur, the daily body care practice that historically used oil-based pastes and massages. The Sublime Dry Oil sits in this wider lineage of plant-oil body care across the Asian continent.

The essential oils we chose ~ sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli, nutmeg ~ are all what perfumers call base notes. They are heavier, longer-lasting, and more grounding than the bright top notes (citrus, mint, eucalyptus) found in most everyday skincare. The choice was deliberate. Base notes settle the nervous system. They invite the body downward, into the present, into the morning practice. The aroma of the oil is not a perfume but a small daily anchor.

Sandalwood and cedarwood have particularly deep ceremonial associations. In Hindu and Balinese practice, sandalwood paste is applied to the forehead as tilaka during temple visits, and sandalwood incense is burned in temple courtyards each morning. To wear the Sublime Dry Oil with its sandalwood note is, in a small way, to walk through the same air the temples have been breathing for centuries.

The infused with the power of words feature is the brand's signature touch on this oil. Each bottle carries an inspirational message ~ to be discovered when the wearer opens it. The brand's belief, quietly stated, is that what touches the skin and what enters the mind are not separate practices. The mantra tradition has known this for millennia. The oil simply makes the older recognition wearable, daily, and small.

Each bottle is blended in our Bali atelier and blessed before it leaves us. The threefold intention is the one we bring to every piece: to empower the wearer, to soothe what needs softening, to manifest what is being called in. With the Sublime Dry Oil, the calling in is everything at once ~ the face, the body, the hair, the partner, the morning, the word.

A FEW QUESTIONS WE ARE OFTEN ASKED

What is a dry oil?

A dry oil is a botanical blend formulated with lighter, faster-absorbing oils ~ thinner viscosity, smaller molecular size, higher polyunsaturated fatty acid content than heavy creams or balms. The result is an oil that the skin absorbs within minutes, leaving softness without slickness. The same lightness is what allows the oil to work on the hair as well as the skin.

What is Sublime Dry Oil made of?

Sesame oil and almond oil as the base, plus essential oils of nutmeg, sandalwood, cedarwood, and patchouli, finished with vitamin E. 100% natural ingredients. No synthetic fragrances, no fillers, no parabens. Suitable for all skin and hair types, particularly recommended for dry, sensitive, or dull skin and hair.

Can it really be used on face, body, hair, and beard?

Yes. The light, fast-absorbing texture is the reason it works on all of them. A few drops on the face, a few pumps on the body after a shower, a small amount through the ends of dry hair, one or two drops worked through a beard ~ all the same bottle. Many wearers keep one on the bathroom shelf for the whole household.

What does 'infused with the power of words' mean?

Each Sublime Dry Oil bottle is uniquely infused with an inspirational message ~ a small written intention discovered when the wearer opens it. The feature borrows from the Hindu and Balinese mantra tradition, in which a word spoken or read with attention is understood to carry transformative power. The oil works on the body. The word works on the mind.

What is a mantra?

In Sanskrit, mantra combines manas (mind) and tra (instrument) ~ literally, the instrument of the mind. A mantra is a sound, syllable, or phrase repeated with intention, understood across the Hindu, Buddhist, and Balinese traditions to carry transformative power. The Sublime Dry Oil borrows from this lineage with its 'power of words' feature.

What is the scent like?

Earthy, grounding, woody. The dominant notes are sandalwood, cedarwood, and patchouli, with a warming touch of nutmeg. These are perfumer base notes ~ heavier, longer-lasting, more centering than the bright top notes of most everyday skincare. The result is an oil that smells like a quiet temple, not a department store. Most wearers find the scent fades to a soft skin-scent within an hour, leaving a faint warmth.

How do I use it on the body?

Three to four pumps after a bath or shower, while the skin is still slightly damp. Massage in. The oil sinks in faster on humid skin and leaves a soft luminous finish. For very dry areas (knees, elbows, shoulders), apply a little more.

How do I use it on the hair?

A small amount through the ends after drying, for shine and to tame frizz. For very dry or chemically treated hair, use a more generous amount as an overnight treatment ~ apply, braid or wrap, rinse in the morning.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes. The formulation is gentle and uses gentle essential oils. As with any new product, we recommend a small patch test on the inner wrist before using on the face. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

How long does one bottle last?

The 100ml bottle lasts approximately three to four months for a single wearer using it daily on face, body, and occasionally hair. For households where two or more people share it, expect closer to two months. The pump is precise and prevents overuse.

What is the difference between Sublime Dry Oil and Plant Booster Face Oil?

Both are 100% natural plant oils from our conscious skincare line. The Plant Booster Face Oil is specifically formulated for facial skin, with a lighter, more delicate blend designed for daily face use. The Sublime Dry Oil is a multi-purpose blend with grounding base notes and a heavier scent profile, designed for body, hair, beard, and face. Many wearers use both ~ the Plant Booster for the face, the Sublime for everything else.

What does it mean that the skincare is blessed?

Every LeeLoobird piece, including our skincare, is charged with ritual in our Bali atelier before it leaves us. The intention is threefold: to empower the wearer, to soothe what needs softening, and to manifest what is being called in. We consider it part of the making, not a finishing touch.
